Collecting the evidence - Presentation of findings

The presentation of findings is an important procedure in an investigation. This may be how a case is presented at court or how evidence is presented. This could be a case file that includes photographs and sketches of the crime scene. These supply the court with a picture of what the crime scene was like and would show any evidence that would have been at the crime scene. It’s important that any evidence in that investigation is included and accurately supported because these can be questioned in court. This is to provide the court with all the evidence and information that was built up throughout the case.

In the Madeleine McCann case there will be a case file that contains every detail and evidence regarding the case. Although this case has never gone to court, there will still be a case file that includes evidence, any leads, witness statements and information/notes regarding to the case. This would be important if the case was to be presented in court, the court would be supplied with the whole picture of the case and all the information and not just a description. It would be beneficial and vital that the case would be presented in court correctly because based on how that case is portrayed plays a role in the decision a judge would make. It is important that the evidence from the case is explained correctly in court to allow the judge to make their judgement.
